Mount Coot-Tha is 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) west of Brisbane's central business district. It's part of the Taylor Range and stands at an elevation of 287 meters (941 feet) above sea level. Mount Coot-Tha holds cultural significance for the Indigenous people of the region, particularly the Turrbal and Jagera peoples, who are the traditional custodians of the land where Brisbane and its surrounding areas are situated. The mountain, known as 'Kuta' in the Turrbal language, has been a gathering place for ceremonies, storytelling, and traditional practices for thousands of years and its flora, fauna, rock formations, and water sources, hold deep cultural meanings and connections to Dreamtime stories and creation beliefs.
