Toohey Forest is an ancient forest in South East Queensland, Australia, with unique geology creating dramatic landscapes. The forest holds cultural significance for the Traditional Owners of the land, including the Yuggera and Turrbal peoples. It was historically used by Indigenous communities for hunting, gathering, and cultural practices, and contains sites of cultural heritage significance. The volcanic rocks found in Toohey Forest and surrounding areas are remnants of volcanic eruptions that occurred millions of years ago. These eruptions were associated with the breakup of the supercontinent Gondwana and the opening of the Tasman Sea. Lava flows and volcanic ash deposited during these eruptions eventually solidified into the volcanic rocks that make up the landscape today.

Here is a collection of images taken from the forest, exploring the less travelled paths and darker corners, trying to capture the sense of age and mystery of this special place.

Each image is available as a poster, framed poster, canvass, acrylic or wood print, or a one-off NFT.
